[Boxvolution] Development Started

I am a working game developer from Germany. Today I want to introduce you to the private project I am currently working on.

Boxvolution

My idea for Boxvolution came from just brainstorming. Since I was required to learn a network SDK for work, I started to write a demo application. After finishing this simple demo, I wanted to do something on my own with this SDK. Mainly to learn more about it. So I came up with the idea for Boxvolution.

Boxvolution is a game where you need to evolve a box, to conquer the battleground in a 1v1 arena. You will be able to claim new land and conquer enemy fields or just destroy the land of your enemies.

It's a simple game with a short match duration. The current state of the game is "In Development" (who would have guessed).

As a quick (not fletched out) Roadmap, I have these points:

  • Login/Register system ✔
  • MainMenu UI (80%)
  • Matchmaker (50%)
  • Match inviting (Basically finished, but since the matchmaker is not finished, untested)
  • Ingame UI (30%)
  • Box AI (On paper)
  • Evolve interactions (On paper)
  • Server side logic (0%)
  • Winning visualizer (10%)
  • Stats display (0%)
  • Single player maschine learning agent (0%)

The Maschine-Learning-Agent is something I want to implement since I had learned to use the ML-Agents Package from Unity, but I was never able to or had the time to put this thing into action. I think that the Agent can help to push this game a little more. There are two reasons for me to think so. First, since this is a multiplayer game and there might not be a secound player available all the time, the agent can help players to play even when there are no other players online. And secondly, I want to learn more about maschine learning. I think this is a good opportunity for me to do so.

Since I am also working as a game developer, my time to work on this project is limited. Despite that, I am happy about what I already accomplished, in this short duration of time (about seven evenings) and I can't wait to show a little bit of the game soon.
